AAC is the compressed audio format used by Apple devices, iTunes, and many streaming tools. SnailText reads the AAC audio, transcribes the speech with the Whisper model, and writes a phrase-level SRT, all on your machine.

You get a standard .srt file ready to attach to a video or use in any subtitle editor. AAC works immediately with no extra codec download.

Will the subtitles be burned into the video you pair the AAC with, or is the SRT a separate file?
No. SnailText writes a separate SRT file and does not hardcode captions into the video. That keeps the subtitles editable and lets you attach them in any player or editor. If you want them burned in, overlay the file in a video editor afterward.
