MOV is the QuickTime video format from iPhones and Macs. SnailText extracts the audio, transcribes the speech with the Whisper model, and writes a phrase-level SRT subtitle file, all on your machine and on both Mac and Windows.

You get a separate .srt file, not captions burned into the video, so the subtitles stay editable and you can drop them into any editor or player.

How do I convert an iPhone MOV to SRT?

Does MOV to SRT work on Windows?

What is the difference between MOV to SRT and MOV to text?
MOV to SRT produces a timed subtitle file (.srt) you attach to the video. MOV to text produces a plain transcript with no timestamps. SnailText does both, you just pick the output before the run.
Will the subtitles be burned into the MOV, or is the SRT a separate file?
No. SnailText writes a separate SRT file and does not hardcode captions into the video. That keeps the subtitles editable and lets you attach them in any player or editor. If you want them burned in, overlay the file in a video editor afterward.
